La Catrina......

Hi Karleigh Sue Fans!

I'm here again to share another inspiration creation using "La Catrina" available at the "new" store!!

I love Day of the Dead/Calavera Girls images - great to create with!

I don't normally do CAS style - I like adding embellies and texture etc but for this card I tried to keep it more minimalistic - tried to LOL!
Background is the image coped and pasted multiple times on the page and I recoloured it red.
La Catrina was printed on Kraft coloured paper and coloured very basically with coloured pencils and fussy cut - this creation wasn't about the colouring but the card as a whole and sometimes when you want to create something quickly this can still look effective.
I added some muslin cloth and a charm with string to complete the creation!

Hope you like my "make" for this week!
Don't forget to visit the new website and check out all the great new "Mary Jane" images - I have some to create with next month!!

Let the Purple Rain

Ok so I was only going to post one project today, but I have been feeling creatively inspired , so have been busy at my craft table, bopping along to the greatest hits of Prince on my ipod, still feeling a little shocked about the sad news of his death earlier this week. He was a total icon, and his music never fails to make me smile, bringing back many memories of my teenage years.

Cheri has drawn her own tribute image to the legend, called  Let the Purple Rain and I didn't feel a card was the right project for this, so decided to do a page in my art journal in tribute.

I had no idea exactly how I wanted it to evolve, but I did have an idea of the supplies I wanted to use!

Various masks and music note stamps

Paints ( purple of course!), inks and texture paste for dimension.

Copics and gel pans to colour the main image

I set to work, splodging paint and paste around and it all started to come together on it's own. I'm not a crafter who sees a project in my head before I make it, so my process can be a bit random to say the least at times! I printed some rather appropriate lyrics from his hit 'Let's Go Crazy' and added them to the finished page, along with a white die cut dove, which I added a little teardrop to.

I do hope he is resting peacefully in the world of never ending happiness of which he spoke.

Thanks for the music and memories Prince.

Sleep tight

Lolita by Lynda

Hi folks! Lynda here stopping by to share a little crafty inspiration for you, this time using the lovely Lolita. Isn't she adorable?! I had a great time bringing her to life with my copics, and decided this time round to keep my card pretty clean and simple , while continuing my mission to use up my scraps of card. Like most of us crafters I hate waste, so have been having a mega die cutting session recently with all those fiddly little offcuts that would otherwise go straight to the recycling bin.  It's a great way to create embellishments. The balloon die I used for these was free in a recent issue of Simply Cards and Papercraft.

There's been a little talk over on the Karleigh Sue Facebook page Coloring Queen-dom recently about how to get started making cards, so I wanted to demonstrate with this one that cards don't have to be complicated and use a zillion techniques and embellishments to be effective. Sometimes simple is enough I think, don't you agree? If you haven't joined the page yet do pop across and introduce yourself. All with a love of colouring are welcome to join us for a good natter and to show off your work, whether it be Karleigh Sue images or some from another artist.

Thanks for stopping by!

Mr Teddy- a CAS card

Hey there! It's been a rough couple of days, as I've been a little sick, but I've crawled over to the PC to get this post out!
I've never really been a CAS and minimal layers gal- I've been playing with it more recently, along with rectangular cards, which also used to be a total nemesis of mine. I have a REEEEAL problem leaving lots of white showing!
I thought I'd attempt it today though, and you'll have to let me know what you think.
IMG_4747[1]
I also released my grip on my copics today, and coloured in pencils- I used the 72 set of Marco Raffines on top of this Buff Cardstock from Papermill Direct.
The image I coloured is   Mr Teddy  that I printed right onto the buff cardstock, before colouring, then stamping my sentiment. I cut it a little smaller than a UK A6 card blank size, but to make it a truly one layer card, you could size your cardstock  a little bigger ;)

Hear Me Rawr..........

Hello Karleigh Sue Fans!

Feels like I haven't posted here for ages but I did over a week ago - time flies!!!

Today I am sharing a journal page just created using a fantastic image from the store "Rawr" - just love the ":pose" of this gal - she looks like she is stalking her prey LOL!

I've coloured her with pastel pencils and fussy cut.

Background page of my journal is serviettes in jungle/safari theme - the 2 lions were perfect for the top of the page with animal print napkins at the bottom.
I added scrabble tile letters "Hear Me Rawr" along with a "courage" charm, some string, bits of left over fibre, hessian and strips of fabric.

You can find this image and many more amazing risqué gals plus lots of other info at Cheri's NEW Website - CLICK HERE!

And at the new website you can find info on Cheri's AMAZING colouring books available at Amazon - a new one has just been released - lots of fun - you must check it out..........

Hey there gals (and any guys that may be with us!)
one of our team is very lucky to be on holiday right now, so the inspiration from us is short, sweet, and a whole lot of sassy this time round!
(and send us a postcard, please, Vicky!)

first up,
We have Lynda with Poodle Skirt , who has made a fun, bright and definitely summer themed card! isn't it just so gorgeous? those embellishments definitely look edible!

Rachel using Freshly baked  one of the brand spankin' new Mary Jane digis!
Rachel is currently addictedto the Docrafts geometric Neon range, and just had to team this digi with THOSE papers... to make things bright, vibrant, and zingy!

and Sharon using Hippie Love with yet another amazing mixed media journal page... I love the slightly earthy yet psychadelic feel and all that fabulous texture!

for more information on all these projects, be sure to visit the designers own blogs, and sprinkle them a little love, too!

So as you saw, there is a lot going on behind the scenes right now, hence no official new release! Cheri has been busting her tatas to get the NEW BOOK out, with a brand new character, and  with a whole load of new digis to go with it that are very brand new!

there is also a BRAND NEW website, where you can find the digital stamps, colouring pages, and merchandise, all in one place, which is so much easier for you all to navigate!

you can find the website HERE

and the New Book 'Mary Jane's adult coloring book " High Maintenance" '  is available to purchase on AMAZON,  NOW

El Gato Dia De Los Muertos - Crafting Vicky

Hello everyone!  I have to share another passion with you all!!!  Right now I just adore making postcards that I can send out to my friends and family.

The base of those postcards is recycled cereal box!  Super cheap right since it's something that would go to the recycling otherwise.  And since it's a postcard it's much cheaper to mail then an actual card!!

When I saw the fabulous image El Gato Dia De Los Muertos I knew that this little cat would be fab for a little postcard to send to my grandmother.

You can see the little making of this in the following video:

And here's the make with the image colored with tritone pencils and polychromos pencil.  The sentiment is a play on word that I did in French and I typed with my brother label maker.  I used a bunch of different stencils as well.

Hope you like it!!! I sure hope my grandmother will like it! If you want more information you can check out my blog here.

Have a fabulous Tuesday and stay creative!!!  Don't forget to check out the store for some fab digis!!!

Hugs

Are you tempted????

Hi Karleigh Sue Fans!

Today I am sharing a quick and easy tag using "Eve" available in the store!

I've added her to our April Challenge at the Facebook Group so why not create a tag yourself and join for a chance to win! and so many amazing images available at the Karleigh Sue Store to choose from to play along!

I've used a plain manila tag as my base and used texture paste and a leaf stencil by The Crafters Workshop to add the dimension. Once dry I sprayed with ink sprays by Lindy's Stamp Gang - the picture doesn't show the shimmer of the red spray. I added the computer generated wording, a piece of ink sprayed muslin coth and some string to the top. Eve has been coloured with Copic markers and fussy cut! Quick and easy but effective!

Why not check out the FB Group for some more inspiration from the DT and don't forget to join our upcoming event "Go Green All Week" from April 17 top 23 - lots of fun, colouring and inspiration plus a chance to win prized!!

Miss Terry - Crafting Vicky

Well I'm still at my latest passion of doing En Mass journaling but I'm realizing that I can't just put pictures.... I really do need to add the digital images or else it doesn't feel like me!  And I really love to be able to find new ways to share digis!  They can be used in so many other ways than with a card.  The ones from Karleigh Sue are particularly nice for this!

This time my page spread was about Fish!!! And well to me that means ocean... and of course you have to have a mermaid.  Yes yes I know they are not fish... but they swim with them right?!?  So the one that I used for this spread is Miss Terry.

And here's the make with the image colored with copics.  The rest is images that I cut out of magazines.  I used some stickers as well and some kids playing cards that I thought were just TOO funny!!!

Hope you like it!!!  I really have so much fun putting those together!  I already have ideas for the next book :) If you want more information you can check out my blog here.

Have a fabulous Saturday and stay creative!!!  Don't forget to check out the store for some fab digis!!!

Hugs

Birthday Surprise

Hi folks! Hope you are all having a lovely Sunday. I'm just stopping by to share a little inspiration I have made using Birthday Surprise. What a great image for a male birthday card! I don't know about you but I always struggle with cards for men, so Karleigh Sue's images fit the bill perfectly! You can find them all here.

She is coloured in Copics and Promarkers using a complete array of colors and teamed on bright funky papers from my stash. The sentiment stamp is by Avery Elle, and the balloons were die cut using a freebie die from a recent magazine.

I hope I've inpsired you to get creating. We'd love to see your makes over on our Facebook page Coloring Queen'dom. You don't have to just share Karleigh Sue images either so jump in and have fun with us and show us what you are colouring. It's a great community to be a part of with tons of fun stuff going on.

Happy crafting!
